If you live in the Midwest you undoubtedly know that the winters around here can be a bit harsh, and by harsh I mean just all around terrible. Yesterday and today were by no means any exception. Now, had I lived in a normal life and was not currently a 26 year old sophomore at NIU, I'd venture to guess I wouldn't be as miserable. Classes were not canceled yesterday which meant that I had a peak into what it was like to live at base camp on mt Everest, though, I was not fortunate enough to have a beard and a full body suit. I combed the campus in my usual attire all while convincing myself that my two classes meant something. Oceanography and Anthropology didn't live up to what I had predicted, but I felt better for going and no skipping class.
This morning classes were postponed until noon, thank goodness. I say this because my car battery opted to crap out and give up on me. Luckily Kayla was nice enough to let me borrow he roommates jumper cables and her car in order to bring the white beauty back to life. Took about 45 minutes to do so, but in the end I was happy as was my wallet.
Tonight I'm fortunate enough to get to work driving the huskie bus from 10:10 - 2:10am. The graveyard shift in dekalb on a cold and wintery weekend is about as good as my life gets around here. I'm in the process of trying to save money to leave state on spring break, but with every passing day I remember how hard saving money is.
Oh, and dorm life is great. Uh huh.
